Periodontal treatment is most effective when it is caught early. Regular appointments every 6 months will help catch any periodontal disease before it becomes a bigger issue. We check for the signs of periodontal disease at every appointment, and we’ll consult with you if we find any indications.
Untreated periodontal disease can cause pain, swelling, and bleeding in the gums. In the early stages, basic cleanings are typically enough to address the disease. In more advanced stages, we may suggest scaling and root planing (SRP), a procedure which removes hard calculus deposits and debris from below the gum line. Usually, SRP treatment can stop the progression of the disease, but sometimes more treatment is necessary. At that stage, we’ll work together to determine the next steps.
